Walter H. Ray, 78, of Danville, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at his residence with his family by his side.
Born Feb. 23, 1938, in Middletown, Conn., a son of the late Joseph H. and Julia (Nichols) Ray, Walter attended East Hampton schools. He worked for G&B Specialties in Berwick. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and fishing.
Walter was also preceded in death by a sister, Cora Kerry.
Walter is survived by his wife, the former Esmerelda D. Woodside, whom he married Sept. 3, 1972; two sons: Joseph Ray and his wife, Stacy, of East Hampton, Conn.; Jeffrey Ray and his wife, Kristi, of Danville; six daughters: Linda Ray of Albany, N.Y.; Elizabeth and her husband, William Stephman, East Hampton, Conn.; April Mecurio of Middletown, Conn.; Melinda and her husband, Kenneth Brown, of Pittsfield, Mass.; Tina and her husband, Dan Reilly, and Deborah and her husband, Gary Wertman, both of Danville; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Elsie Beach of Cromwell, Conn.; and Augusta and her husband, William Turner, of Maine.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Jerseytown United Methodist Church, 9 White Hall Rd., Bloomsburg, PA 17815 with Pastor Leslie Halchak. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
