Perkins, James E.

James E. Perkins, 80, of Groton, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Beechtree Nursing Facility in Ithaca.

Born in Cortland on July 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Ralph and Harriet (Foreman) Perkins, and had been a resident of Groton for most of his life.

Jim was employed for 33 years with Smith-Corona in Groton, where he was a production supervisor, and worked for ten years after for Cargill, Inc., in Lansing. He was a member of the Groton Lodge #486 F& AM and enjoyed his time spent on Owasco Lake and in the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Paula J. (Natoli) Perkins of Groton; his sons, Michael Perkins (Andrea) of Groton, and James "Jamie" Perkins (Erin) of Lansing; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cansas M. "Candy" Perkins in 1990.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Ave., Groton.

A private graveside service will be held in Groton Rural Cemetery.
