He was born Nov 6, 1922 in Bates, Arkansas. He lived in Oklahoma and Colorado before moving to California. While living in Salinas, he worked for Merrill Farms and designed and built his first lettuce harvester. Later he designed and built many other pieces of equipment for harvesting and for the brewing and wine industry. He retired from Liberty Winery in 1984 after many years as plant engineer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Harper of Salinas.
