The Key West Citizen, July 14, 2016

Diane Artman Crockett passed away on July 6, 2016 surrounded by her family. She had fought a long, courageous battle with Scleroderma. She was 69 years old.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, L.P. (Poly) and Patricia Artman, her father-in-law, A.B. (Al) Crockett, Sr., her uncle and aunt, Norman and Silvia Artman, and her brother-in-law, Curry R. Blackwell. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alvin Crockett, Jr., her son Kevin Crockett (Millie), and grandson Carson Crockett; her sister Carolyn Artman Blackwell (Larry); her mother-in-law Ruth Crockett (93), her brother-in-law David Crockett, her niece, Denise Blackwell Santiago (Sandy), nephew, Curry R. Blackwell, Jr. (Jenna), her cousins, Greg Artman (Shelly), Marcia Artman Sireci (Tom), and Ronnie Artman (Janet), numerous second cousins, extended family and too many friends to mention.
Diane was born on May 6, 1947 in Key West, Florida and was a fourth-generation Conch. Diane graduated from Mary Immaculate High School and stared working at the family business, Florida Keys Printing and Publishing. Along with her sister Carolyn, she started Plaza Card Corner. She retired but wanted to stay busy so she took a part-time job at Walgreens.
Diane enjoyed traveling with her family and her pride and joy was her grandson, Carson, who was the light of her life. Diane enjoyed the simple things like date night with Alvin, which was going to the movies every Friday night. Even if there wasn’t a good movie, they would go anyways just to get what Diane called her “popcorn fix.”
Dinner with family or friends on Saturday night was another one of her favorite things to do, and she absolutely loved spending time with her grandson. She could be in the middle of a good movie at home and if Carson came over and wanted to watch cartoons, she would change the channel and watch them with him as long as he wanted. She also loved dogs, especially her Lacy, who passed away in her arms about a year ago.
Diane was the sweetest, most selfless person whose smile could light up a room. Her loving devotion to her husband and family was plain to see. Whether you knew her from Plaza Card Corner, Walgreens or just around town, she was always a pleasure to talk to and would help you in anyway she could.
Diane and Alvin just celebrated their 50th anniversary on May 2, 2016. She did a fantastic job raising her son, Kevin, and was a wonderful grandmother to her grandson, Carson, who calls her “Bebe” and nobody to this today knows where he got that from. It would take this entire newspaper to tell you all of the great qualities that she had. She was such a loving person and she was always wanting her husband and son to be happy.
Diane, we will always love you and forever miss you.
Funeral services will be held at Dean-Lopez Funeral Home, 418 Simonton St., Key West, Florida on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to SPCA of Key West. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
