Kelly Francis Kirk was born on May 20, 1934, in Muskogee, Okla., to Viola and Sam Stacy and Kinnith Kirk. He was one of five brothers and four sisters. He married the love of his life and his best friend, Grace Elaine Humphrey, on Aug. 19, 1953. This union was blessed with two sons, four daughters, and a lot of love and laughter.

He was a hardworking, industrious man. He worked for the Cherokee Builders for 22 years, and then retired after 16 years of faithful service to the Cherokee Nation Housing Authority. He enjoyed time in the garden, raising his prize tomatoes. He had the green thumb that allowed him to plant anything and make it grow. He loved the outdoors and was out in the sun as often as possible.

When he was indoors, there was always a little WWE wrestling to watch, or he would grab up the phone directory and call old friends and acquaintances, asking about their day and their families, just keeping in touch. He was blessed with a sharp mind and an even better memory, often recalling the details others had forgotten. He loved any time spent with his children, grand and great-grandchildren. He loved to tell them stories and keep them entertained. They were his pride and joy. Best of all, he got the chance to make up names for every one of them.

July 13 was a very big day in Kelly Kirk's life, as he gave his life back to the Lord. He was truly blessed and happy for this life-changing event. The Lord called this hard-working man home from his labors on July 13, 2016, in Tahlequah, Okla., with his loved ones by his side. Kelly was 82 years old. He will be treasured for all the love he gave, the friendships he began, and all the smiles he shared with his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Grace; his daughter, Jalaina; two sisters, Emma and Janie; and one brother, Edgar.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kellie Payne and husband Steven of Sapulpa, Vicki Gilstrap and husband Tom of Weatherford, Texas, James Kirk of Tahlequah, Barry Kirk and wife Marty of Marble City, and Karla Hopkins and husband Bucky and two grandsons Riley and Braeden of Burnt Cabin. He leaves his brothers and sisters, Bill Stacy and wife Linda of Tahlequah, Gene Stacy and wife Moni of Arizona, Lois Callaway of Little Rock, Ark., and Bonnie Stacy of Tahlequah, Bill Kirk and wife Norma of Tahlequah, and Claude Kirk and wife Betty of Tulsa. His legacy lives on in his 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
