Mrs. Ramsey, 87, Snyder, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at her home with her husband and children at her side. Her granddaughter Kristy, who took special care to ensure that Margie would be able to spend her last moments at home, was also at her side. Margie was born on the family farm west of Mountain Park on October 22, 1928 to Leon and Viola (Terry) Holder. She grew up on the farm with her three brothers and sister. She graduated from Mountain Park High School in 1946. She then graduated from Draughn’s Business School in 1947. She married Dan Ramsey in a double wedding with their friends Wilbur “Buddy” Rogers and Thelma Richardson on October 19, 1947 in Manitou, OK. Dan and Margie would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in October. Margie and Dan were baptized at the Otter Creek Baptist Church in 1950. Margie was a loving wife, momma, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma to her family. She was also an excellent seamstress, carpenter, quilter, farmer and homemaker. When she and Dan were first married, she would climb on the tractor and help out. This was a skill she learned growing up on the farm with her Momma and Daddy. Margie was very proud to have made a quilt for each of her four kids, eight grandkids, and her nineteen great grandkids. She also made many toys for kids around town in her carpentry shop. Margie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Snyder since 1968. She volunteered at the Angels Attic sorting donations and spent time on the election board. She has spent the last twenty two years volunteering with her sister Alma Faye and nieces Janet Woodall and Pam Ford at Mountain Park Primary School. Margie also participated in the Red Hat Club, Busy Bee Quilting Club and the O & O Riding Club. One of Margie’s favorite pastimes was coffee with the other coffee shop gals, especially Arleta Jones, Alma Faye Snyder, Ann Holder, Helen Holder, Della June Liles, Dovie Ramsey and Vern Floyd Rogers. Margie’s life revolved around her family. Her husband, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-granddaughter were what she lived for. She said the smell of freshly plowed ground was her favorite smell and she loved babies.
Margie leaves behind her husband Dan Ramsey, 4 children; daughter Ginny Nunley and husband Jackie of Sterling, a son Joe Ramsey of Lone Grove, daughter Kathy Ramsey of Cache, and son Bret Ramsey and fiancé Carolyn Robinson of Chickasha. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Holder and wife Shirley of Snyder, sister Alma Faye Snyder and husband Jim of Snyder, sister-in-laws, Dovie Ramsey and Helen Holder of Snyder, June Paschal of Jacksboro, TX, her grandkids; Greg and Tammy Williams, Shawn and Darla Nunley, Danny Ramsey and Jeanette Ware, Justin and Bobbie Ramsey, Luke and Jackie Lynn Christian, Clint and Kristy McLaughlin, Tyler Sennett and Lee Ann Woods, Cory Ramsey and soon to be granddaughters Lisa and Laura Robinson. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren; Morgan, Parker and Tatum Williams, Dara, Paige, Jadyn and Jacob Christian, Zane and Avri Hutchinson, Jordan and Dylan Woods, and one great-great-granddaughter Lily Hicks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Viola Holder, her brother Arlie and wife Betty Holder, her brother Joyce Holder, cousin Tom Holder, special uncle Horace Holder, mother and father-in-law Fannie and William H. Ramsey, Jr., brother-in-laws Sam Paschal, William H. Ramsey III and her special friends Bill and Anna Mae Brown and Leroy and Gayle May.
