Jeanne Frances Richards (Bates), of Canby, passed away at Legacy Hopewell Hospice House in Portland, on July 1, 2016, at the age of 85.

She was born November 18, 1930 to Ralph Foreman Bates and Irene Virginia (Murphy) Bates in Covington, Kentucky. She grew up in Covington and attended Holmes High School. It was also there that she married her husband, James Richards, on September 7, 1946. Jeanne lived in Woodburn from 1980 – 2004, and moved to Canby to live with her daughter Jamie and family in 2004.

She was lovingly known to her family and friends as “Nanny”. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003. She is survived by Barbara Cooper, Victorville, CA; Sherry Spies, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Jamie Netter, Canby; Jodie Wyatt, Albany; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A private service was held July 9, in Lincoln City. Funeral arrangements were handled by Canby Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Legacy Hopewell Hospice House, Portland, Or.

Jeanne Frances Richards (Bates), of Canby, passed away at Legacy Hopewell Hospice House in Portland, on July 1, 2016, at the age of 85.
