Christina C. Wise, 85, of Connersville died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at The Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis.
A Connersville native, she was born March 1, 1921 to Albert H. and Ida M. Dudley Firsich. She attended St. Gabriel School and graduated from Connersville High School in 1939. On May 14, 1941, she was married at St. Gabriel Church to David A. Wise, Sr. who died October 13, 2004. She was a full-time mother and farm wife and had also worked at Connell`s Trucking and as a government office secretary. She was a member of St. Gabriel Church, St. Anne`s Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She had served as a Rural Youth leader and enjoyed gardening and canning. In her leisure time, she had traveled to Nashville,TN, Maine, New Jersey, Las Vegas, North Dakota, throughout the West and parts of Canada. She enjoyed playing euchre, bridge, and pinochle.
Survivors include seven children and their spouses: Louise and Tom Jagielski of Fort Wayne; David A."Bud" Wise, Jr; Janet Risselman; Lowell and Pat Wise; Rose Ann and Charlie Moffett; Ronald L. Wise; Deborah and Rick Cloyd, all of Connersville; three brothers and their spouses: Albert, Jr. and Martha Firsich; Leon and Nancy Firsich; James Firsich, all of Connersville; three sisters: Deloris Temple; Mary Ann Wilhelm; and Barbara Wilson, all of Connersville; 15 grandchildren and their spouses: Bob Risselman and his companion, Debbie Roberson of Dublin; Scott and Jana Risselman of Milton; Melinda and Doug Shelton of Connersville; James and Michelle Wilhelm of Ferndale, MI; Gale Wilhelm and her fiancé Chris Watkins of Atlanta, GA; Christina Jagielski of Atlanta, GA; Nichole Moore of Connersville; Stephanie Cloyd of Lexington; Joe Cloyd of Connersville; Chad and Kelly Moffett of Connersville; Wesley and Andrea Moffett of Milton; Amy and J.P. Burwick of Whitewater; Angie and Hem Shah of Indianapolis; Mark and Abby Wise of Fishers; Billy Wise of Connersville;2 step-grandchildren: Mary and Rick Ball of Schoolcraft, MI; and Mark Jagielski of Kalamazoo, MI; 18 great-grandchildren: Hannah and Hunter Shelton; Claire Risselman, Mackenzie and Jasmine Shah, Chandler Wise, Caleb Wise, Braden and Bryce Burwick; Sophia, Alex and Elise Wilhelm; Morgan, Ella, Mason and Garrett Moffett, Braden Moore, Brenleigh Cloyd; three step great-grandsons: Jon Fox, Jase Meyer and Connor Jagielski, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband; three brothers: Robert, Vincent and William Firsich; one sister: Viola Spaulding.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday at St. Gabriel Church with Rev. Stanley Herber officiating. Interment will follow in Valley Grove Cemetery, Wayne County. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel Connersville from 4 to 8 pm Friday and after 9:00 am Saturday at the church. The rosary service will be conducted Friday at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or to St. Gabriel Church.
