Robert K. Hild, 93, of LaMoille died June 1, 2016, in Mendota Lutheran Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick Church, Arlington, with the Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Arlington with military rites by Mendota VFW Post 4079.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.

Robert was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Kasbeer to John W. and Sarah H. (Barger) Hild. He married Mary Didier on Nov. 27, 1948, in Holy Cross Church, Mendota.

He was a 1940 graduate of Ohio High School. Bob retired in 1988 from the U.S. Postal Service in LaMoille after 40 years as a rural mail carrier. During his career he was named to the Million Mile Club of the National Safety Commission for miles traveled with no accidents. His career also included working for Mutual of Omaha Insurance.
He was a member of St. Patrick Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a 64-year member of the American Legion, where he served as commander and adjutant, having served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

He was a member of LaMoille Lions Club and had previously served on LaMoille Village Board. He was a 20-year volunteer firefighter with LaMoille Fire Department and a member of LaMoille School District Board of Education.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Mendota; two daughters, Janet (Mark) Wamhoff of LaMoille and Jeri Lynn (Leon) Buettner of Lebanon; four sons, Jeff (Stephanie) Hild of Naperville, John (Barbara) Hild of Arlington, Joel (Julie) Hild of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jim (Sharon) Hild of Naples, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jean Oklesen and Jill Hild; one great-granddaughter; one daughter-in-law, Theresa Hild; three brothers, Art, Carl and Bill; and three sisters, Mary Reeser, Mabel Pohl and Helen King.

Memorials may be directed to LaMoille Fire Department or St. Patrick Church.
