Illustrator. Noted for intricate drawings, his technique stems from a misunderstanding of earlier woodblock engravings that he tried to emulate. Juxtaposition of sizes in a scene together with intricate scrollwork and lettering made him unique in the field of commercial artists for many early 20th-Century magazine publications. In the 1940s, Mr. Booth served the United States War Department for recruitment (posters), war bonds (envelopes), and Graves Registry as design leader and coordinator. Publishers for widely read authors routinely commissioned Booth's original artwork, as did diverse businesses for covers and interiors. In 2000, the United States Postal Service issued, "American Illustrators," header art of which is Booth's rendering for a 1918 magazine.Married
