CLAUDIA JO "JODEE" (BARR) PIPER

Claudia Jo (Jodee) Piper, 77, died July 11 at her home in Longmont, CO.

Jodee was born on April 8, 1939 in Wray, CO to Robert and Anna Maye (Bullock) Barr. She grew up in Eckley and attended school in Eckley and Wray, graduating from Wray High School in 1957. Jodee married Lowell Piper in Denver, CO on June 22, 1957. Two sons were born in Greeley, CO. The family made their home in various Colorado locations, including Wray, Greeley, Ft. Morgan, Arvada, Lafayette, and Longmont. The family also lived briefly in Nashville, TN.

Jodee had tremendous love and passion for her family, antiques, and traveling. She was consistently involved in family events and was fond of traveling to spend time with a wide range of family members. Jodee could be found on most weekends searching out local estate and garage sales to purchase a collectible item or just to engage in a lively conversation. Jodee enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling, spectator sports and Shakespeare, and attended several Shakespeare festivals. She always kept a score card when attending the Rockies games and was a long time Bronco and CU fan. At the time of her death, she still had CU football and basketball season tickets. She had the CU basketball tickets since 1976.

Jodee enjoyed a successful teaching career after receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN. She went on to receive a Masters Degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, CO.

Jodee had a tremendous green thumb and could seemingly grow anything anywhere. She loved fresh cut flowers and if she came to your home, she always brought flowers as a gift.

Jodee was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Viola; brother, Kenneth; and husband, Lowell.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, of Pembroke Pine, FL and Westminster, CO; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; her two brothers and their wives, both of Wray, CO; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
