Leader-Courier - Kingman, Kingman County, Kansas - March 2, 1017:
"LYLE PINKERTON DEAD -- Lyle Pinkerton, the eleven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pinkerton, died at the Kingman Hospital Sunday, where he had been taking treatment for an accidental gun-shot wound in one of his hands. Funeral services were held at Cleveland Monday, conducted by Rev. Holtsclaw of the Free Methodist church, interment being at the Cleveland Cemetery. The sympathy of their many friends goes out to the bereaved family in their great sorrow. The boy died from weak heart while under the influence of an anesthetic, which had been administered while the would was being dressed, as had been the daily practice in his case. Jehu Lyal Pinkerton, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pinkerton, was born June 11, 1905, near Cleveland, Kingman county, Kansas."
