Julia Norris , 91, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Gastonia, NC passed away on November 16, 2006 at Presbyterian-Matthews Hospital in Matthews, NC.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 20, 2006 from 1:00-1:45pm at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill. The Funeral Service will follow at 2pm in the funeral home chapel, with the interment immediately following at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, NC.
Mrs. Norris was born on September 7, 1915 in Chamblee, Georgia to the late James E. and Alma L. Sewell Walker.
Julia was a graduate of Bessie Tift College in Forsythe, GA, before becoming a School Teacher. On June 9, 1940 Julia married James R. Norris in Hickory, NC, who predeceased her in 2002. Prior to moving to Charlotte six years ago, Julia resided in Gastonia, where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors of Mrs. Norris include two children, Dr. James R. Norris , Jr and his wife Carol of Downers Grove, IL, and Mrs. Julia N. Edmonds and her husband Wesley of Charlotte, NC; four loving grandchildren, Sharon Norris Churchwell, Dr. David Norris , GY SGT Eric Edmonds, and Christine Edmonds Cook; six great grandchildren, and one sister, Ms. Rose W. Wolff of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving is Julia 's most beloved friend and gift from God, Clarissa Dunbar.
