Mrs. Kate E. Gunderman, wife of Hon. William R. Gunderman, former member of assembly from Tompkins County, died at 5 o'clock Sunday morning at her home, 333 West State Street.

Although Mrs. Gunderman had been in poor health for several years her condition had not been particularly alarming and her sudden passing on Sunday was unexpected. She had had numerous failing spells in the past two or three months, but each time rallied. The news of her death was a shock to many of her friends who had seen her out in the past week or so.

Mrs. Gunderman suffered another poor spell on Friday night. Her condition grew gradually worse throughout Saturday and in the evening it was evident that the end was near. The cause of death was arterial sclerosis.

Mrs. Gunderman was born at Slaterville Springs in the house now occupied by her brother, Omar D. Mulks, on March 19, 1853. She was the daughter of David Mulks and Maria MacPherson. In 1881 she was married to William R. Gunderman. He husband and brother, Mr. Mulks, are the only immediate survivors.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home. The services will be conducted by the Rev. E.A. George, pastor of the Congregational church, of which Mrs. Gunderman was a member; Dr. William Elliott Griffis, a former pastor of the same church, and the Rev. B. Frank Tobey, pastor of the Congregational Church at Danby. Interment will be at Lake View Cemetery.
