Bill was born February 17, 1943 in Charleston, the son of William D. and Nina V. Van Sickle Cox. He married Lisa A. Sample on September 4, 1999.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of Charleston High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked for the FBI, the State of Illinois, and was the owner of Apartment Finders of Illinois. Bill enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, golfing, traveling to Naples, FL, and deer hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judith Anne Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Cox of Springfield; five children, Stephanie P. Cox of Pennsylvania, Stacey L. (husband, Will) Hodgson of Westchester, PA, William R. (wife, Alison) Cox, II of Springfield, Lesley A. Cox of Springfield, and Cameron T.E. Cox of Springfield; four grandchildren, Trenton Cox, Daisy Hodgson, Ryleigh Cox and Ellie Hodgson; one brother, Larry (wife, Merita) Cox of Granbury, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation care was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The memorial gathering will begin with a eulogy ceremony.
Celebration of Life: The family will host a Celebration of Life beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Brookhills Golf Club, 5350 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield.
Inurnment: Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
