BRUCE A. CAHOONE

Bruce Cahoone, age 56, of Cottonwood Falls, KS, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, KS. The son of Howard A. and Zelma M. “Micky” (Livesay) Cahoone, Bruce was born December 19, 1959, in Wichita, KS. He attended JCCC and completed the Heating and Cooling program. He, also, completed a waste water treatment program and spent two years with the Job Corps in Ogden, UT. He and Darla T. Hogan were married for 19 years.

He worked for a basement/foundation repair company, IBP, a heating and cooling company, and worked at a waste water treatment facility. He was forced to retire due to ill health. He was a Universal Life minister. Bruce enjoyed cooking and attended a culinary arts program at one time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbequing, and diving. He loved animals and trained dogs for a while. Jeopardy was his favorite show and he was a big fan of the group, KISS. In his early years, he rode unicycles and did gymnastics, and as he got older, he rode Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons: Bruce Allen Cahoone, II of Oswego, KS and Brett Allen Cahoone of Illinois; and two sisters: Darla Weiss of Cottonwood Falls and Debbie Bupp of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Barlow.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, July 16, at 2:00, at the Strong City Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Emporia Animal Shelter may be sent in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, P.O. Box 220, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
