Jimmy worked for John Deere as a welder and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He loved spending time with his family and he enjoyed fishing, bowling, and the outdoors.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; children, Ronald Paul (Heather) Dyer, Teresa Marie Dyer, Billie Jo Dyer, and Jimmy "Chim" Michael Pierce; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Freddie Pierce; and sister, Joyce Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Donald Pierce.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, in Des Moines, with visitation beginning two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Jimmy.
