John H. "Jack" Ahrens of Cherry Hill, formerly of Haddon Heights. Born July 8, 1932, passed away on his birthday, at the age of 84, after a long battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of 45 years of the late Ruth M. (nee Gurling), loving son of the late John H. and Ethel M. (nee Sears), devoted brother of the late Anne M. Scott (nee McCready), and dear uncle of the late John J. Scott, Jr. He is survived by his nieces, Janet E. Scott of Phoenixville, PA and Susan Scott Burchacki (Stanley) of Calabash, NC, brother-in-law, Robert Gurling (Carol) of Lehighton, PA.

Jack grew up in Haddon Heights and graduated from Haddon Heights HS. He proudly served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Jack interned and later became a captain in the Pilot's Association for the Bay and River Delaware. He and Ruth loved traveling the world, cruising, and their time in Ocean City, NJ, especially entertaining for the Night in Venice. He also enjoyed golf and volunteered at the First United Methodist Church of Haddon Heights. Jack and Ruth most recently resided at the Spring Hills community in Cherry Hill.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 10 to 12 Noon, Wednesday, July 13, at TERRANOVA FUNERAL HOME, 402 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, followed by his Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Interment immediately following at Colestown Cemetery in Cherry Hill.

When asked how he would like to be remembered, Jack replied: "As a kind and gracious man."

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 704 Garden Street, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035.
