BLUE?EARTH - Orville H. Olson, 94, Blue Earth, MN

Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Orville died on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center.

Orville Olson, the first of seven children, was born on a farm in rural Martin County on December 17, 1921. Like many of his generation, he attended a one-room school house and had to complete his education at the eighth grade. Because of this, learning became a lifetime commitment for him; he served on the rural school board and on the Guckeen Farmers Elevator board. Orville farmed his entire life except for a short stint in the Navy Reserves during WWII. He married Betty Hiller on Feb. 11, 1947 and farmed in Fairbault County for over 50 years. After her death, he married Myrna Hicks in November, 2002.

Orville Loved to create, whether it was through carving wooden ducks, making peanut brittle, or growing a great crop, and he loved to share his creations with others. He was a man of great integrity and had a great heart. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Orville is survived by his wife, Myrna of Blue Earth; one daughter, Linda Barkaloff of Mankato; granddaughter, Raisa Barkaloff; great grandchildren, Ava and Levi Fagan; three sisters, Eleanor Stewart, Lois (Wilfred) Humburg and Kathleen (Charles) Holmseth. Orville was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; two brothers, Ralph and Donald; one sister, Betty Hiller.
