Military Service in US Coast Guard WWII∼
Warren A. Stone, 85, formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully, July 21, 2010. He was born September 11, 1924, in Stacey Basin, NY, the son of Chester C. and Lois Newey Stone. Warren was a graduate of Vernon High School and served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. On May 25, 1956, he married Mary Corigliano in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Stone worked for the Barge Canal Authority as a lock keeper, worked for the Rome Daily Sentinel and was the owner of Mundas Superette in Sylvan Beach, until his retirement. His favorite pastime was fishing. He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Lori Ford, Utica; a son, Warren Stone, FL; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in care of Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main Street, Whitesboro.
