American Legion Post 44 of Bantam honored Malcolm Ford, Jr. as their December 2002 "Veteran of the Month."
WUAF Malcolm Ford, Jr. was born February 5, 1931 at Mt. Kisco, New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on July 10, 1951. He attended service schools at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi and then served in Korea until he was discharged on July 9 1956.
He received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, the United Nation Service Medals, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea Ribbon. Mr. Ford worked for the New York Telephone Company. After being struck by a drunken driver on the Taconic State Parkway in 1980, he retired. He never fully recovered from the accident. During his retirement he was the proprietor of a successful antique refinishing business. He was a Past Commander of American Legion Post 136 in Mt. Kisco. Mr. Ford died on May 6, 1997.
