Born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri on June 4, 1930, Robert also lived in San Diego and Pomona, California. He moved to Indialantic in 1963, built a home in Indian Harbour Beach in 1964 and lived there the rest of his life.
A Marine Corp veteran, Robert courageously served in the Korean War, most notably during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir in late 1950.
He was a life-long Methodist active in his church as a Lay Leader and a Sunday School teacher. He was also an avid square dancer with the Allemander club.
While in California, he was employed by General Dynamics. Recruited by Radiation Inc. in 1963, Robert moved his family to Florida. Harris Corp. acquired Radiation in 1967. Robert retired from Harris in 1993 as Director of Contracts.
His responsibilities at Harris involved international and continental travel, an activity he continued with his wife Joan. Together, they've set foot in every US state and numerous countries. Robert enjoyed capturing images of their adventures; the springboard to his becoming an award winning amateur photographer.
Robert Leslie Ketchum is survived by his spouse of 66 years, Joan McKim Ketchum; his son Mark and his wife Denise Diemer Ketchum and his two daughters Glenna and Leslie Ketchum
Mr Ketchum will be placed into peaceful, eternal rest at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Indialantic. A ceremony celebrating his life will occur there on Saturday May 28 at 10:00am.
