[Caleb Williamson, s. of Timothy Williamson and Mary Howland, was b. at Marshfield, Mass. and d. Dec. 24, 1738 at Hartford, Conn. Two gravestones exist for Caleb, but only the replacement stone is readable, stating that at his death he was "aged 87 wanting 2 months and 18 days." This indicates he d. at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 12 or 13 days b. in the middle of Mar. 1651/2. In 1898 the venerable Frank Farnsworth Starr, longtime town clerk of Middlestown, Conn. and a well-qualified genealogist, published a genealogy of Caleb and his wife Mary Cobb, concluding that through a series of documents at Marshfield and Barnstable, Mass.:
"The entries prove that Caleb became twenty-one years old between October 31, 1682, and December 22, 1687, and therefore his age as inscribed on his monument is ten years too great."
Starr concluded that the beginning age on Caleb's gravestone should have been "aged 77..." indicating he was born in the middle of Mar. 1661/2, not ten years earlier.
