Our daughter and sister, Katie Breese Day, was born on August 18, 1982 and died on July 8th, 2016 of liver failure. She was the tie that bonded two families together. She has a laugh that was infectious. She was tenacious, strong willed and full of life. She loved classic movies; those with Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe were her favorites. She was always seen sporting her "Audrey Hepburn" sunglasses. She would quote movies all the time. She was bright, funny and had a sharp wit. She loved all things Shakespeare. She brought brightness with her. There will always be a hole in our hearts that was once "our Katie". We have all learned much from her short life; we learned...To Be....and....Not To Be. Katie is preceded in death by both grandparents: Joyce & Luis Sanchez and Marie & Howard Day, and by her Aunt Melanie Shipley & Uncle Luis G. Sanchez. Katie is survived by her family: Jim & Carol Day (parents) Kim (Ken) Hicken, Nicole (Curtis) Hill, Jody (Jeromy) Oblad, Joseph (Stacey) Day, Heather (Shane) Branch and her Best Friend and Sweetheart John Jones. 7 nephews & 8 nieces whose hearts she touched always.

Katie's arrival was very much anticipated by her 5 siblings. Being the youngest was the perfect fit. In a battle of wits, she won every time and the battles ended with laughter until everyone peed a little. Camping trips to Flaming Gorge were eagerly awaited. Upon arrival, Katie was the first in the water and the last one out. If she wasn't swimming at Flaming Gorge, then it was the backyard pool. Katie was a Water Baby. One of Katie's treasured activities was to curl up with loved ones and watch a movie. She could quote every movie she saw and was unbeatable at "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon". Katie could walk into a crowded room not knowing a single soul and walk out with everyone's phone number and life story. Over the last few years, Katie became a "foodie" and shared some amazing dishes. Katie had a deep love for everyone and enjoyed being with loved ones but, alas, her bent halo and broken wings needed to be mended so Heavenly Father took her back.

Katie is my sister-in-law. I met her when I was 15 years old and she was turning 8, she asked me if I was going to marry her brother. "Ummm, no, I am only 15."
Katie could pick me out from a crowd from our first meeting forward. Not too long after our first meeting, I turned 16 and got my license. My parents car broke down while I was driving in the middle of a busy intersection. The next car to come by was Katie's parents with her in the back seat. She started screaming in excitement, "look, it's Joey's girlfriend!" Jim, Carol, and Katie pushed my parent's car out of the intersection and gave me a ride home. Katie held my hand the entire time. I knew then I was hooked on this girl. My heart will ache without you "My Sweets", my sister, my love. Thank you for making sure I married your brother. Thank you for the many nights of snuggly movie watching. Most of all, thank you for being in my life no matter what.
