Martin Walker was born at House No. 33 in Krowica Lasowa, Galicia, Austria [Poland] on 17 October 1865 and was baptized at Reichau Lutheran Church on 22 October. His parents were Johann Jakob Walker (1822 - 1885) and Katharina Martin (1824 - 1886). Martin was the 10th of 11 children. Martin was a wheelwright by profession. Five of his siblings moved to Canada between 1896 and 1907.

Martin Walker married Maria Ganz on 30 January 1894. She was the daughter of Peter Ganz and Christine Eilmes who resided in Wielkie Oczy, Galicia, Austria [Poland]. Martin and Maria had six children. The first four were born dead, the fifth child died in infancy and the last child Karolina lived only to age twelve [Nov 1901 - Mar 1914]. Maria died 1 January 1904 and is buried at the cemetery in Reichau.

On 14 February 1904, Martin Walker married Karoline Jung in Lindenau, Galicia, Austria [Ukraine]. She was born on 11 January 1880 in Lindenau and was baptized there on 1 February. Karoline was the daughter of Jakob Jung and Katharina Bach. Martin and Karoline had a son named Jakob Walker who was born on 22 May 1905 in Basznia, Galicia, Austria [Poland]. On 11 January 1907, Karoline died of pneumonia in Basznia Górna, Galicia, Austria [Poland]. She is buried at the cemetery in Reichau. Martin and Karoline's son Jacob died in Reppenstedt (Niedersachsen), Germany on 30 September 1969. His wife was Hilde Rodenwald.

Her name was Wilhelmina Walker. She was born in 1911 and died in 1928. She is buried near the entrance gate to the cemetery at Podlesie [Reichau].
