The Lord called an Angel home on January 8, 2015. Sylvia Gonzales started her journey here on Earth on February 28, 1952 and ended to start the next. She was a strong and faithful Woman of God who fought like a worrier this demon we call cancer for a little over a year, leaving a piece for her heart along the way. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family unconditionally & never expected anything in return, always ready to help the world.

Sylvia used the gifts of sewing & creativity God blessed her with to help her husband provide for their family & was part of many people’s memories either through wedding/debut dresses, decorations &/or cakes she would make. She shared her creativity in teaching others to make ceramics when she owned J & S Ceramics.

About eight years ago, she answered a calling & stepped out in Faith and started Angel Cover Ministry. Through this ministry the homeless were fed, clothed & covered. She along with the other Angels @ the ministry made blankets & quilts for the elderly, the children’s shelter, and for premature babies. Quilts that brought comfort to families of terminally ill children, lap covers & wheelchair covers for wounded soldiers, & so much more.

She not only spoke of God’s word, she walked & lived the part! She was, as a friend said "a bright light in a grey world"! You would see God’s Love in her smile & hear His voice when she spoke.

Sylva is preceded in death by her parents, Maximo & Jesusa Escobedo & older brothers, Ruben & Maximo, nephews, Joe Vasquez & Daniel Escobedo.

Sylvia is survived by her life long love of 46 years, Jesse Gonzales, her four children Maria (Fred Villareal), Angelica Aldaco (Rudy), Jesse III (Lidia) & Sylvia (Arturo Espinoza), 14 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the Camero Funeral Home Chapel. A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday Evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Camero Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Camero Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery.
