Cancace was born May 26, 1955 in Portales, to the home of Jo Anne (Gorrell) and C. L. Brown, and died in Lubbock, TX on June 30, 2016.
When Candace was five years old, the family moved to Cloudcroft. She graduated from Cloudcroft High School in 1973, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from New Mexico State University in 1977. In 1979, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in PE for K-12. In 1982, Candace completed a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology at Kansas State University.
In 1984, she moved to Livermore, CA, and began teaching at Chabot-Las Positas Community College, where she was still employed at the time of her death.In addition to her responsibilities at the college, she gave private guitar lessons, and also owned a small fitness center.
Candace became ill a short time ago, and moved back to Portales in early June to be with her mother. She had been in Lubbock for the last week of her life.
Candace was a devout San Francisco Giants fan, and dearly loved her many dogs. She was particularly drawn to Labrador Retrievers and German Shepherds.
She is survived by her mother, Jo Anne Brown of Portales; and her brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Diane Brown of Cold Spring, TX. She was preceded in death by her father, C. L. Brown who died April 23, 2004.
