Wanda Perle Bailey Harper, a longtime Hurst resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Chapel, with Dr. Jim Gerlach officiating. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet. Wanda was born in Comanche County on Dec. 20, of a year she did not wish publicly specified. She was preceded to heaven by her parents, Hugh and Perle Martin Bailey, and her husband, Lewis E. Harper. Wanda grew up in the Methodist church and was active in a number of churches in the area. She was an Aggie Mom and an active member of many organizations, including Northeast Tarrant Right to Life, NE Tarrant Tea Party, Mid-Cities Christian Women's Connection, Conservative Caucus, Toastmasters International, Irving Silvertones, and others. Known as "Mimi" to her grandchildren, she was a faithful Christian friend and a good neighbor. Wanda graduated from Gorman High School at the age of 16 and received an associate degree from Ranger College in Ranger. She was a distributor for the Shaklee Corporation. Survivors: Brother, Martin Bailey and wife, Ruth Ann; daughter, Marla of Nashville, Ind.; sons, Bob Harper and wife, Susan, of Irving and Jim Harper and wife, Linda, of Hurst; grandchildren, Joe Harper and wife, Amber, of Bonaire, Ga., Len Harper Christenberry and husband, Austin, of Irving and Lauren and Brandon Harper of Hurst; and great-granddaughters, Cecilia and Violet Harper of Bonaire, Ga.
