Leo Lemley

Leo Delbert Lemley, 73, of New London died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Dec. 2, 1931, in Warsaw, Ill., he was the son of Oscar and Delena Brown Lemley. On Feb. 8, 1953, he married Mary McGuire in New London.
Mr. Lemley owned Lemley Tree Service. He also worked for Iowa/Illinois Telephone Service for 16 years, worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, from which he retired in 1997, worked for the city of New London and worked part-time for the New London Shell Station.
He attended school in Carthage, Ill., and received his GED. He was a member of New London Christian Church and New London Masonic Lodge No. 28 AF & AM. He was a former Jaycee, Cub Scout leader and Little League coach, played fast-pitch softball, and enjoyed crafts and yard work.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Delbert Lemley and Bob Lemley, both of New London; three daughters, Robin Martin and Mindy Mettler, both of New London, and Melissa Brown of Mount Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Lemley of Kalona; two sisters, Edna Jane Price of Augusta, S.C., and Viola Allen of Baltimore; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two in infancy, and one infant brother.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Lemley will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Sue Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
A memorial has been established for Southeastern Renal Dialysis.
