Mr. Charles A. Arlund, age 82 years, of Overland Park, KS, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at K.C. Hospice House. Visitation will be at Mount Moriah Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 12. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the Mount Moriah Funeral Home with Father Anthony Ouellette officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Mount Moriah Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be conducted prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Higginsville Parents' Association at 3826 South Union, Independence, MO, 64055 or a charity of one's choice.
Chuck was born October 2, 1933, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Harold and Mary Arlund. He was married December 11, 1956, in Denver, CO, to Patricia Leslie.
He grew up in Kansas City, MO, where he was a graduate of Southeast High School and later attended Baker University in Kansas.
Chuck proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Menifee. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1956. He was a lifetime DeMolay Legion of Honor member and also a 50-year member of Temple Gate Lodge No. 299 and the Ararat Shrine. Chuck owned the Arlund Meat Company in Kansas City, KS, for more than 50 years.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Pat Arlund; three children, Jim Arlund, and his wife Mary of Lee's Summit, MO, Toni Pavlich and her husband Jim of Overland Park, KS, and Charles A. Arlund III (Chuckie) and his wife, Kristina, of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Lachlann, Olivia and Nikolette Arlund of Murfreesboro.
His parents, his brother, Jimmy Arlund, and his sister, JoAnn Riley, preceded him in death.
Chuck enjoyed Missouri Tigers football and basketball, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, golfing -- including his Las Vegas hole-in-one -- and being a ZTA Dad. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, the lights of his life – all whom enjoyed his famous Christmas cheesecake.
