Fremont Gazette 1929 by Bob Fell
Do You Remember Way, Way Back When: In the spring of 1904, Fred Aldridge threw a bunch of connecting rods, worm gears, piston rods, side valves, fly wheels and exhaust pipes together and the result was an automobile of the ‘steamer' type? And when he start it up there was a terrific roar! And in five minutes time he drew a bigger crowd than a circus band? And everyone was afraid to ride with him but Jim Byrum who risked his life as far as Votaw's corner? And the small children cried when the monster snorted by? And bystanders shouted "Hold your horses!"?
