Fred W. Jones, 84 year old retired farmer of Burfordville, died early Sunday in a Cape Girardeau hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks. He was born May 27, 1882, three miles west of Millersville to the Rev. and Mrs. Isaac W. Jones.
He farmed and was a livestock grower in the Burfordville community for his entire lifetime.
He was a member of the Burfordville Baptist Church.
He married Miss Clara Proctor in 1904, she died on April 28, 1935.
He then married Mrs. Vesta Ona Blanken on Aug. 19, 1938. She survives.
Surviving, besides his widow, are five sons, Rolin Jones of Leadwood, MO; Ralpherd Jones of Whitewater, MO; Eugene Jones of St. Louis; Paul Jones of St. Louis, MO; and Willard Jones of St. Louis, MO; four daughters, Mrs. John W. McManus of Burfordville, MO; Mrs. Ancie Bollinger of Chaffee, MO; Mrs. Owen Pogue of St. Louis, MO; and Mrs. George Hanselmann of St. Louis, MO; three brothers, John Jones of Burfordville, MO; Pervis Jones of Millersville, MO; and S.V. Jones of Jackson, MO; one sister, Miss Cumie Jones of Oak Ridge, MO; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three step-sons, Homer Hurst of Marble Hill, MO; Hubert Hurst of Jackson, MO; Johnny Blanken of Marble Hill, MO; one step-daughter, Mrs. Melvin Walker of Jackson, MO; 13 step-grandchildren and nine great-step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Fred Richardson officiating. Burial was in Lessley Cemetery near Gravel Hill.
Pallbearers were Sam Jones, Larry Jones, T.L. Jones, Lilbourn Jones, Clinton Jones, and Stanley Jones.
