Margaret “Peg” McClain, 85, of Elm Terrace passed away early Monday morning, June 8, 2015 at LifeCare Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald G. McClain for 25 years before he passed away in 1980.

Born May 14, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Edward P. and Bertha (Goodwin) Nolan.

Peg was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1947 and later Bryant College in Rhode Island.

In 1966 Peg bought Nolan’s Flowers from her uncle and became the 3rd generation owner. Her grandfather started the business in 1885 and passed it on to his son, Ed, Peg’s father. Peg was one of the few women in town to own her own business in the 60’s. Her hard work and long hours were a huge factor in making the business the success it is today.

Peg was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro where she was a member of the choir. She was an accomplished pianist and loved to sing. She was on the North Attleboro Bicentennial Committee and chaired the committee to make sure a town history was written and published.

Peg enjoyed spending her summers with her family at their cottage on Bungay Lake in North Attleboro. She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast.

She is survived by three children: Donald G. McClain, Jr. of Lincoln, RI, Mary Louise Champagne of Attleboro and Mark E. and his wife Julie McClain of Crossville, TN; and six grandchildren: Patrick and Katherine McClain, Robbie and Emma Champagne and Nolan and Maggie McClain.

She was sister of the late Donald Cleary.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro. A private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls MA.
