Shirley R. Bruce, 75, passed away on a Thursday evening, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was the daughter of August and Doris (Poquette) VanElsacker, was raised in Northland and was a graduate of the Gwinn High School.

On June 30, 1955, she married Wallace Bruce in Albion, Mich., and he preceded her in death three years ago.

Since 1962, Shirley has resided in Wells. Until her retirement, Shirley was employed at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba for 30 years as a nurse's aide.

Shirley Bruce was a faithful member of St. Anthony Church in Wells and she enjoyed spending time with all her family and she will be sadly missed by them.

Shirley Bruce's survivors include: five sons, Jeff (Tina) Bruce, Randy (Barbara) Bruce, Rick (Karen) Bruce, David (Heidi) Bruce, Rob Bruce; three daughters, Teri Perry, Lynn (John) Blomberg, Wendy (Ron) Sexton; two sisters, Dorothy Bulloch, Jan (Rich) Mortl; grandchildren, Candice Blazer, Greg and Missy Bruce, Gary and Mike Bruce, Holly Jo Bruce, Nicole and Allison Derouin, Parker Bruce, Ashley and Ryan Griggs, and Shelby Sexton; great-grandchildren, Gilberto Breones, Devin and Dylan Bruce, Dawson and Makenzye Bruce, Chase Casperson, and Isabella McQuigg; and nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her loving and adoring dog, "KoKo."

In addition to parents and her husband, Wallace, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Rod VanElsacker.
