David Ceils Abbott 88 years old, died Saturday afternoon in the Montgomery Hospital in Butler. He had been in declining health for several years. Funeral services were held at the Howard Methodist Church Monday at 10 a.m., with the Rev Douglas Green, pastor of Howard Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev Herschel Whitley and the Rev Jimmy Trice. Interment was in the family lot at the Pine Level Cemetery.

Mr Abbott was born October 29, 1874, son of the late David Albert Abbott and Recca Horn Abbott in Tallapoosa Co., AL. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Melinda Lou Verna Baker Abbott, to whom he was married May 1, 1901. The had been married 62 years. A retired contractor in carpentry, he had lived in Taylor County 47 years and was a member of the Howard Methodist Church. Other survivors include, Rev Cecil Abbott, of Lumpkin, Clarence E Abbott, of Mauk, and George E Abbott, of Columbus; a sister, Mrs Hattie Reeves, of Notasulga, AL; a brother, J L Abbott, of Jay, FL; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
