Billie Bright Campbell, a former long-time Trumansburg, NY resident, died on Friday June 17, 2016 in Oak Ridge, TN. She was 95. Billie was born on June 17, 1921 in Eccles, WV to James and Goldie Bright. Her childhood years were spent in Colver, PA a mining town where her father was a paymaster at a coal mine. She attended High School at nearby Ebensburg, PA and college at Indiana State University, Indiana, PA, graduating in 1942 with a BS degree in Home Economics. As it was in the midst of WWII, she joined the U.S. Navy WAVES and became a Pharmacist Mate stationed in Cleveland, OH. After the war, Billie moved to Ithaca, NY, first working as a technician in a pathology lab at the Cornell University College of Agriculture and then as an analytical chemist for the GLF (Grange League Federation Exchange), the predecessor to Agway Company. Billie married Vince Campbell on June 25, 1954 and subsequently moved to Trumansburg. She was a homemaker and also helped with the family boat building and repair business, "The Boat Shop", located next door to their home on Booth Rd. Billie delighted in being with her family and friends and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and knitting, and loved the time at the cottage the family built on Cayuaga Lake. In 2000, Billie and Vince relocated to Oak Ridge, TN to be near family. Billie had a deep and abiding faith and was an active long-time member of the Trumansburg First Methodist Church. She lived her life by the principles her father wrote to her as a child: live simply, expect little, give much; keep your heart from hate, forget self, thing of others; do as you would be done by. Her wonderful smile, heart-warming laugh and crazy phrases will be missed by all!

Billie is survived by her sons, John and Vince (Ruth) Campbell; sister, Alice (Bright) Burns; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Painter, Erica (Aaron) Conroy, Nate (Angela) Campbell, Katelyn and Lucas Campbell; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington Street, Ste. 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481, www.curealz.org. The family would like to thank the staff of NHC-Oak Ridge for Billie's exceptional care during the twilight of her life. jacksonfuneralservices.com
