Brenda Elaine Madden Alderman, age 50, of Litton Road, Morehead, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead after an extended battle with breast cancer.

Born February 22, 1966, in Morehead, she is the daughter of Marjorie Bailey Madden of Morehead and James Ralph "Mickey" Madden, who passed away October 16, 2015.

In addition to her mother, Brenda is survived by her husband, Jerry Alderman, whom she wed August 22, 1985, and their son, Matthew Alderman of Charleston, South Carolina; her sister, Beverly Gilliam and husband David of Morehead; two nieces, Bristol Snelling and Tessa Gilliam; and one great niece, Eden Wren Snelling.

Brenda also leaves behind two sisters-in-law and their families, Carol Barker and husband Jeff of Morehead and Joann Campbell and husband Mort of Clearfield; three nieces, Rachel Barker, Sarah Barker and Kirstian Campbell; two nephews, Brandon Black and Price Campbell; extended family; and friends.

Immediately following her graduation from Rowan County High School, Brenda became an employee of The Citizens Bank and later worked in billing for Dr. E. G. Barker, Metro Radiology. Brenda was employed by the Rowan County Board of Education for 25 years as the Employee Benefits Specialist.

A lifelong resident of Rowan County, Brenda was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family and especially enjoyed being involved in Matt's sports activities and encouraging him as he pursued his career. Her friends described her as loyal, sincere, humble, a great listener, and pure of heart. Brenda touched people with the Christian message and her love for life. She enjoyed the beauty of nature and loved taking evening Jeep rides with Jerry. When a new movie came out, Brenda was always one of the first in line. She and Jerry enjoyed doing so many things like this together. Her smile was contagious and her friendship has been felt by many. She was all about family as well. Each member knew that they were loved because of the time she devoted to each one. Brenda was a member of Johnson First Church of God.
