Julia Francis Wimbush (Tip) Franklin, 84, of Collinsville, VA passed away on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at Blue Ridge Rehab, Stuart, VA. She was the wife of the late Gerald Franklin. She was born on May 16, 1932 in Martinsville, VA to the late Ella Dillard and the late William Wimbush.
Julia is survived by one son, Gerald W. Franklin Sr. of Bassett, VA; two daughters, Joni F. Wade (Dana) of Martinsville, VA and Carol A. Wimbush (Anthony) of Waldorf, MD; two granddaughters, Amber J. Wade of Durham, NC, Joanna M. Wimbush of Waldorf, MD.; and one grandson, Gerald W. Franklin Jr. of Aliso Viejo, CA.
Julia was retired from Henry County School System as a teacher for more than 30 years.p She was a member of Oak Hill Cathedral of Glory Church where she served in the Senior Choir, Sunday School teacher, Vacation bible school secretary, Intercessory Prayer warrior and Clothes closet ministry. Young at Heart club, and Sunset Drive Community Awareness Group.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Oak Hill Cathedral of Glory, Basset, VA with Pastor Todd Foster, officiating.
Interment will be in Martin Cemetery, Smallwood Drive, Bassett, VA.
