The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. The Rev. John Neuser will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery.
He was born on June 1, 1908, at Two Rivers, son of the late Henry and Ann Gagnon Rau. He attended St. Luke's Parochial Grade School and graduated in 1926 from Washington High school. He graduated from the School of Mimes in South Dakota. He then attended the University of Wisconsin Madison. He married Irene Dvorak on November 30, 1935, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. He was a Lieutenant in the Merchant Marines during World War II serving in four Theaters of War. He was a Marine Engineer Officer on the Great Lakes for many years. He then was a supervisor and engineer for Foremost McKisson Company in Mishicot and Appleton. In 1970, he was Chief Engineer of their international division at DaNang, Vietnam, retiring in 1972.
Survivors are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Sonja Rau, Sheldon, Wash.; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Richard Meissner, rural Two Rivers; two sisters-in-law, Caroline and Lila Dvorak; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by a brother, a sister, and infant grandchild.
Friends may meet with the family at Holy Cross Church after 10:30 a.m. Monday. Military Graveside Services by the Mishicot VFW Post No. 7753. He wishes were that the casket remain closed.
