Opal Irene Phillips, 102 of Star City died Thursday at Gardner Nursing Center in Star City. '

She was born June 30, 1914 in Waldron to the late David Meeks and Emma Abigail Slater Sherrill.

She was a charter member of Crigler Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Extension Homemaker’s Club, Busy Hands Club and was a homemaker.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Samuel Phillips and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include 2 sons, William Harvey (Frances) Phillips of the New Home Community and Jerry Dean (Betty) Phillips of Star City; 2 daughters, Wanda Jeanette (Lloyd) Owen of Star City and Patricia Irene (Buddy) Warbritton of Hot Springs; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2:00PM Tuesday at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Leopard officiating.

Visitation is 6:00-8:00PM Monday at the funeral home.

Burial at Drake Cemetery.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
