George was a son of Asa Priest and Mary (Webster) Priest.

He was married to the former Miss Amelia Burritt. Mrs. Priest and their three married daughters survive.

George E. Priest worked as a journalist and at one time was part owner and the editor-in-chief of the Ithaca Daily Journal newspaper in Ithaca, New York for 35 years.
