FUNERAL WILL BE FRIDAY

Joseph Marion Tanner, 86 years old, died Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.S. Hutchison, in Jessamine county, after an illness of several months.

Mr. Tanner was born in Scott county, a son of O.H.P. Tanner and Elizabeth Dearinger Tanner, but spent most of his life in Lexington and Fayette county. He was a graduate of Transylvania College and Princeton University, and practiced law at the Lexington bar for 40 years, retiring from his practice several years ago.

In 1876, Mr. Tanner married Miss Lizzie Butler, of Jessamine county. Mrs. Tanner died in 1919.

Mr. Tanner is survived by four daughters, two sons, 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The daughters are: Mrs. Hutchison, Jessamine county; Mrs. T.H. Posey, Lawrenceburg; Mrs. F.M. Wilkes, Pine Bluff, Ark., and Mrs. Cornelius Nash, of Lexington; and the sons, Lawrence M. Tanner, of Ashland, and Thomas B. Tanner, of Lexington.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Nash, 808 Tremont avenue, with the Rev. S.M. Logan, pastor of the Troy Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at the Lexington cemetery. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, by his own request: Joe Hutchison, George Hutchison, Tom Posey, Jr., Bob Posey, Bill Tanner and Hal Tanner.
The family requests no flowers.
