Richard Allen Blount, Retired U.S. Army, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by a host of family members on July 3, 2016. He was born on December 30, 1930 to the late Rev. Richard A. Blount and Mrs. Laura Maultsby Blount Zanders in Jacksonville, FL. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church until his health failed.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of over 20 years, Janice Y. Blount. Their blended family members include two daughters Levette Alicea and Tonya (Tony) Blanks, one son, Ottis (Michelle) Jenkins, 6 grandchildren; Brittany Alicea, Ottis James Jenkins III, Katelin Elizabeth Jenkins, Bronson Blanks, Druex Kelly and KiKi Jenkins and 5 great-grand children; Jaxon, Bailey, Nevaeh, Lola and Jayden. He also leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters, who affectionately called him Junior, Laura Z. Rose, and Wallace (William) Weathersbee, 3 nieces; Gloria (James) Lockley, Tonyaa Weathersbee and Avis Weathersbee, one nephew, Reginald Eugene Rose and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Sunday, July 10, at Greater New Hope A.M.E. Church, 2708 N. Davis Street from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with An Hour of Reminiscing from 6-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday July 11, 2016 at Greater New Hope A.M.E. church. Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
