Donald Alfred Ikeler, age 87, 3839 West Rose Garden Lane, Glendale, AZ, died at 11:45 a. m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at The Hospice of the Valley, Glendale.

Born at the Joseph Ratti Hospital, Bloomsburg, on June 21, 1924, he was a son of the late Alfred E. and Fannie A. (Crawford) Ikeler.

Donald attended the Mt. Pleasant Township schools before enlisting in the US Army during World War II. He crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the Queen Mary and went on to serve in France before being discharged in 1946, returning home on the SS Sea Devil. He attained the rank of Sergeant.

He and his family lived in Mt. Pleasant Township until the mid 1960's when they moved to Glendale.

Donald was a truck driver at the former GLF Store in Bloomsburg before moving West. In Arizona he was a truck driver through Teamsters Local 104, retiring in 1986 with a perfect driving record.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 1999; by three sisters: Florence Zoe Faux in 2007; Bonnie Ruth Ikeler in 1992; Helen Dean Ikeler in 1920; and by two brothers: Philip Boyd Ikeler in 1921 and Bobby Larue Ikeler in 1988.

Surviving are a son, _____ _____ and his wife _____; a daughter, _____, wife of _____ _____; a granddaughter, _____ _____ and a grandson, _____ _____, all of Glendale, AZ. Also surviving are two sisters: Betty Lizardi and Donna J., wife of _____ _____ of Bloomsburg; a brother, _____ _____, and his wife ___, Parkton, Md.; a sister-in-law, _____ _____, Evarts, Ky.; a special friend, Mary McHenry, Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at the convenience of the family in Atonement Lutheran Church, Glendale, AZ. The family has requested that memorial contributions in Donald's memory be sent to Canby Lutheran Church, 529 Millertown Road, Bloomsburg, Pa 17815.
