HEAD, Virginia 'Ginger' Catherine
(Lilja)
Born Aug. 27, 1923 in Des Moines, IA. She passed away April 29, 2013 in Sacramento, CA at the age of 89. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Ken. Wonderful mother of Cathy (Mike) Langford, Jim (Andrea) Head, Marilyn (Rick) Sowers. Beloved grandmother of Ken (Abby), Becky Jo (Ryan), Melanie (B), Katie Jane (Nic), Sarah (John), Tanisha, Aaron (Andrea), Maggie, Spencer, Melissa (Rob), Laurie (John), and Amy. Great-grandmother 'GG' to Kellen, Colten, Carsen, Kenna, Andrea Jo, Jeb, Eric, Dean and Macy.

Ginger grew up in Madison, WI graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1945. She and Ken married July 31, 1948, in Madison, and soon traveled to Northern California where they settled. Ginger was a devoted homemaker and raised her three children in Sacramento. She volunteered at many community organizations. Her favorite was Walnut Whitney Convalescent Hospital, where she held weekly church services for over 30 years, until her health declined.

Ginger loved her lush backyard gardens and sitting on her deck in the sun. She enjoyed having friends and family over, sharing good times, lots of laughter, games and delicious food. She also loved to play the piano, and was an accomplished musician. Ginger deeply loved her annual summer trip to Northern Wisconsin at the family's cottage on Mercer Lake. There she enjoyed canoeing to the lily pads, sparkles on the water, birds and sunsets on the pier.

Mom, Grandma and GG, your wonderful loving presence touched all who knew you. We will always treasure our memories of laughter, 'I Love Lucy,' games of rummy, scrabble and dominoes. Your kisses and hugs will be felt for a lifetime. We thank you for praying for each of us and for your beautiful, shining Christian example that will impact us forever.

The family would like to invite friends to a celebration of her life on Monday, May 6, 4PM at Wells Chapel at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church, 11427 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks. Following this, there will be a Dinner Fellowship. Arrangements by Chapel of the Valley (916-797-1448).
