Lois M. Brewer, 89, of Moorhead, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Villa Maria in Fargo, North Dakota.

Lois Mae Rose was born April 30, 1927, at Ayr, North Dakota, to Ogden and Hazel (Conklin) Rose. Her grandparents, William and Ellen Rose, homesteaded the family farm in Ayr in 1880.

Lois attended nurses training at St. Johns Hospital in Fargo for three years and after finishing her training, she worked at the VA Hospital in Fargo.

In October 1956 she married Stanley E. Brewer in Ayr. They made their home in Fargo where they owned a four-plex until 1963, when they built their home in Moorhead. Together they raised their four sons, Stanley, Steve, Curtis, and Scott.

Lois and Stanley were members of Faith United Methodist Church in Fargo since 1959. All of their boys were confirmed and received their Eagle Scout ranking (Troop 214) at the church.

After a 30-year long career in nursing, Lois retired from the VA Hospital in 1987.

Stanley died in April of 1989 but Lois continued to live in their home in Moorhead until 2006 when it was bought out by the county so they could build a dike on the land. From there, she moved to the Carriage House senior apartments in Moorhead and eventually to Villa Maria in Fargo.

Lois is survived by her four sons, Stanley (Annette) Brewer, Steve (Kathleen) Brewer, Curtis (Denice) Brewer, and Scott (Merrily) Brewer; her brother, Frank Rose; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William, and her husband, Stanley.
