Jennifer Wise, 70, of Nederland, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She was born on October 3, 1945, in Victoria British Columbia, Canada, to Beatrice Massy Mills and William Mortimer Mills.
Jennifer retired as a Gemologist from Albert's Jewelers.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Wise of Nederland; daughters, Cindy Jones and her husband, Ronald, of Nederland and Sandra Ward of Hammond, Indiana; son, Aaron Wise and his wife, Jackie, of Longmont, Colorado; grandchildren, Tyler and Jennifer Jones; Zachary, Christopher and Matthew Ward; and Evelyn and Ivy Wise; sister, Judith Branion of, Victoria B.C., Canada; and nephews, Andrew and Trevor Branion. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A gathering of Mrs. Wise's family and friends will be at 12:00 p.m., with her service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at Broussard's, 505 North 12 Street, Nederland. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Nederland.
On July 5, 2016, our family lost its matriarch, Jennifer Jacqueline Wise. While there are a lot of great mothers in the world, we hope you will forgive us for insisting that Jennifer was one of the best.
There was never a day that passed when Jennifer's three children, Cynthia Jones, Sandra Ward and Aaron Wise didn't feel her adoration. She would ease their burden as often as possible, in any way she could.
Jennifer is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Robert Wise. She was endlessly devoted to Robert, and cared for him during his battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She also had seven grandchildren, and each of them had the honor of experiencing the love of this extraordinary woman.
Jennifer was born in Victoria British Columbia, Canada to second daughter of William and Mimi Mills. Together with her parents and sister, Judith Branion, Jennifer traveled to Europe where she met and married her husband. Her marriage brought her to the United States, where she lived the rest of her life.
She possessed the type of personality that lit up every room she entered. She made friends easy, never making an enemy. Jennifer was blessed with a sharp mind and wry wit. Her sense of humor was as biting as it was legendary, and she never let anyone take themselves too seriously.
A loss of this magnitude is incalculable and invites condolences. However, we ask for congratulations. A life well-lived as Jennifer's deserves applause instead of mourning. She touched the lives of so many, and those lives are better for each and every second spent in her presence. She taught us what it means to love, and for that we will be eternally grateful.
Thank you, our dear mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend. You left us with the treasure of knowing you, and for that we'll owe you more than we'll ever be able to repay.
