PAMPA - Peter Paul "Pete" Blanda, 83, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Monday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Edwin Cooley, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Blanda was born in Youngwood, Pa. He earned a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from Texas Tech University. During World War II, he was a captain in the Marines.

He was a petroleum engineer and district superintendent for Kewanee Oil Co., later a part of Gulf Oil and then Chevron. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, in Oklahoma, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Blanda married Betty Diltz in 1942 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Nan Blanda, in 1977.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Paula Heybach of Irving; a sister, Margaret Yakubisin of Youngwood; five brothers, George Blanda of Chicago, Mike Blanda and Paul Blanda, both of Youngwood, John Blanda of Columbus,Ohio and Tom Blanda of San Antonio.

The family suggests memorials be to Book of Remembrance at First Presbyterian Church, 525 N. Gray, Pampa. TX 79065.
