Therman was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on Sept. 15, 1936. He graduated from Portales High School (Portales, New Mexico) in 1955, and from Eastern New Mexico University in1962. As a teacher, Therman taught in Clovis, New Mexico, Dimmitt and Kermit, Texas. When he wasn’t teaching, he owned his own plumbing and construction companies. He also wrote three novels published under Dale Oldham.
After his retirement, he volunteered with the Texas Baptist Men, using his experience to serve Christian camps and churches in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Riverbend Retreat Center became their home and “refuge” for the last six years.
