Frances was they youngest child and daughter of Henry Lewis and Emma Virginia Whitley Lumpkin.
She can be found in the 1930 census of Taylor County, Georgia as being 7 years old and living with her parents and older sibling, 9 year old Randall. Frances had a number of older sibling who had grown up and previously moved from the home. They were living at the time on the Howard-Junction City Road, which today is known as GA Hwy 96. Frances was attending school along with her brother. Her father was an ordained Baptist preacher.
In February of 1939, Frances wed Mr. John Lindol Hanson, the son of Gordon and Mabel Hart Hanson. The announcement in the Butler Herald newspaper read "LUMPKIN-HANSON Reverend and Mrs. H. L. Lumpkin announce the marriage of their daughter Frances, to J. L. Hanson of Thomaston, the ceremony having been solemnized on Feb. 11th, Rev. W. R. Lumpkin officiating with the ring ceremony. The bride was beautifully attired in navy blue with accessories to match. They will be at home to friends in Thomaston.
Frances and John went on to raise three sons to adulthood. John passed away in 1987 and they are now laid to rest together here in Pine Level.
